This auction features all basketball memorabilia, autographs, game used items and cards. Highlights include items from the World Be Free Estate, game used shoes and much more!
A collection of items from NBA legend World B. Free, including his 10,000 point game ball, a Philadelphia 76ers game used uniform, and even a 1970’s hooded mink coat, is featured in the 2015 Basketball Auction from North Carolina?s Worthridge Auctions and Retail.
We are excited and proud to represent this collection from World, a hoops legend whose basketball journey started here in the Tar Heel state, states Rick Kohl, owner of Worthridge. In 1973, behind the play of MVP Lloyd Free (in 1981, he had his name legally changed to World), tiny Guilford College would win the NAIA National Championship. Free would go from there on to the NBA, where he lit up opponents on a nightly basis for 13 seasons, averaging over 20 points per game.
We are excited to have the opportunity to represent these museum quality pieces, as well as all of the other outstanding items in our current auction.
The 2015 Basketball Auction also features a team signed ABA game ball from the 1975 New York Nets, with Julius Erving and Wendell Ladner autographs, an ABA Minnesota Pipers warm up jacket, and a collection of game used and signed shoes including those of Hall of Famers Larry Bird and Charles Barkley. The auction ends Saturday, April 25.
Worthridge is the culmination of over 20 years of memorabilia and collectibles experience. We began as a small baseball card store in South Florida, and over the years we have grown and been privileged to supply the industry with some of the finest memorabilia and collectibles known. Since moving to the Triad area of North Carolina in 2007, we have expanded to include other areas of expertise such as coins and currency, guitars, comics, sports cards, autographs, estate jewelry, watches, historical and entertainment memorabilia, and as always, sports memorabilia.
